I'm off work on Monday for Memorial Day and we have no plans this weekend, so I'm using the extra free time to make all the things.
Since it's summertime I've been drawn to lightweight cotton yarns and warm-weather patterns like sun hats, market bags and swimsuit coverups.
I recently finished making this tulip-shaped market bag and love how it turned out. The pattern is the Linen Tote Bag by Summer Sumpakpisut. I used 2 skeins of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton in Ecru and added a few extra rounds to the body to make it taller. This pattern was a bit tricky to figure out in the beginning and I had to start over a few times, but once I got the hang of it I was able to crochet it up pretty fast. It's basically a big meshy granny square. I really like the way the handles are constructed — they are sturdy but still comfortable on your shoulder.
I named my bag the "Magnolia" because that's what this color reminds me of.
I made another bag in the Hay Bale light brown color and love it just as much. We have a beach trip coming up this summer and I'll have to decide which color to take with me.
