I saw an ad for this adorable crocheted granny squares blanket at Natural Life, and immediately wondered how they joined the squares like that.

I searched around and found out that this is a "flat braid join". And then I found these amazing video tutorials by Play Hooky with Me that show how to make a very similar blanket:
I had a long weekend off from work, and decided to make my own version of this throw blanket. I went through my worsted weight yarn and picked out some colors: pinks, teals, olive, mustard, orange, and off-white. It's coming along pretty quickly and I love how it looks! I plan to keep adding squares until the blanket is 8 x 10, and then I will add some sort of scalloped border.
